Teaching
I maintain a private studio in Manhattan and teach students of all ages. I have taught for over 10 years—from beginners to advanced musicians—and tailor my approach to each student’s needs. From 2015-19, I was an instructor of secondary harpsichord lessons for graduate students at the Yale School of Music.
My primary aim is to instill a lifelong love and appreciation of music and guide the student to explore the various elements of music he or she most enjoys. In addition to acquiring technique and understanding music and its forms, I encourage my students to express music in a natural way.
My approach is interdisciplinary. In my lessons, I incorporate relevant study of music history, theory, and improvisation with modern pedagogical techniques in an engaging way. When students have a broad understanding of the music they are playing in context, I believe it enriches one’s overall musical experience.
I am available to teach piano, harpsichord, music theory, improvisation, and composition.
