Take a journey back to Vienna in the 1700s and learn how Mozart made up music on the spot. This lecture-recital will uncover Mozart as a pianist and improviser and show how pianists created impromptu music in their own voice. Topics discussed will include Mozart’s approach to the piano and his works, ideas about improvisation in the eighteenth century, and the recognizable features of his beloved musical style. The event will conclude with a performance of Mozart’s music as well as an exciting improvisation in Mozart’s style.
